Deep Roots: journey Together

Can you imagine what the disciples witnessed in Jesus’ prayer life that caused them to ask Jesus to teach them to pray in Luke 11?

Last Sunday, Pat walked through this familiar prayer using examples of the stories from Luke's accounts: from the disciples journeying together in pairs, Peter and John going to the temple, Paul and Barnabas traveling around, and finally,  with Stephen's speech.

Not alone. Together.

Watch this video and listen as Chad encourages us to journey together.

September Love First Challenge

Reconnect

For our September Love Challenge, we invite you to reconnect with someone from Highland Oaks who we haven’t seen in a while. They may be virtual only and need to know they are missed. They may be quarantining or sick. They may sit on the other side of the Worship Center, and you haven’t had a chance to chat. We encourage everyone to extend love and rebuild connections.

How can we reach out? It’s up to you. Some ideas could include a phone call, text, email, a greeting card, or a porch visit.

You can reconnect with members in one of two ways. You can choose members yourself; or people can be assigned to you. Either way, sign up on our website or app to let us know how you would like to participate and how many members you would like to encourage.

October Love First Challenge

Lake Highlands Community Trunk or Treat

For our October Love First Challenge, Highland Oaks will be partnering with Arms of Hope Community Outreach Center, Bright Futures for Women and Children (formerly Pamper Lake Highlands), Caring & Sharing Food Pantry, Forerunner Mentoring, and Little Acorns Child Development Center for this year's Trunk or Treat event.

The event will be held at Highland Oaks on Saturday, October 30, from 11am to 1pm, and we have been asked to provide decorated trunks and candy for the event.

Candy - Throughout the month of October we will be collecting candy to pass out at our Trunk or Treat on October 30.  Please bring individually wrapped candy and place it in the marked buckets around the concourse.  In lieu of donating candy, you may also donate candy funds.

Decorated Trunks - Dress up in costume, decorate your trunk, and join us to pass out candy and bless the Lake Highlands community at our Trunk or Treat!   Your whole family can participate.  If you're single, come by yourself, or join with a friend to bring a decorated trunk.

Please sign up and let us know how you would like to connect with our Front Yard.

Celebrate the Children Dinner & Auction

Saturday, October 9

For 31 years, the Celebrate the Children Auction has been the flagship event for ChristianWorks for Children fundraising. Held in the beautiful Dallas Ballroom of the Omni Dallas Hotel, the evening is filled with a silent auction of over 350 items, a fabulous dinner, a live auction of trips, and one-of-a-kind experiences, features a speaker and ends with the gift of a live concert.

It’s a wonderful Saturday night to invite friends and family, colleagues and neighbors, into the ministries of ChristianWorks—a mix of fundraising, fellowship, friend reunions, and a lot of fun!

Most importantly, this special night allows all that gather to do something amazing for the children of Dallas together that none could do alone.
